My name is Marianne Stacey, and I am proud to announce my candidacy for Sweetwater County Assessor.

With 28 years of experience in the Assessor’s Office, including service as Chief Appraiser, I have the knowledge, leadership, and dedication necessary to continue serving the residents of Sweetwater County with professionalism, fairness, and integrity

Serving Sweetwater County

My name is Marianne Stacey I began my career with the Sweetwater County Assessor’s Office in 1998 as a member of the Field Crew in an entry-level position. Through hard work and dedication, I advanced into the office where my primary responsibilities included deeds and industrial accounts. Over the years, I have also gained valuable cross-training experience in every area of the office, giving me a comprehensive understanding of its operations.

In 2019, I was promoted to Office Manager, a position I held for four years. In 2023, I was promoted to Chief Appraiser, the position I currently hold. In this role, I have expanded my knowledge of county valuation, management responsibilities, and the many ways our office works alongside other levels of government. Throughout my career, I have built strong professional relationships with the Wyoming Department of Revenue, the State Board of Equalization, assessors across Wyoming, industry representatives, industrial appraisers, and, most importantly, the taxpayers of Sweetwater County.

Employees of the Assessor’s Office are required to complete appraisal courses through the International Association of Assessing Officers and successfully pass certification requirements in order to obtain permanent certification. In addition, continuing education is required to maintain certification status. I am a permanently certified tax appraiser through the Wyoming Department of Revenue and have completed more than 770 hours of continuing education in the assessment field. I am also a member of the International Association of Assessing Officers.

I believe my years of training, education, and hands-on experience have provided me with a strong understanding of property valuation and the responsibility of fairly assessing all taxable property within Sweetwater County at its true value. This knowledge not only strengthens my ability to perform the duties of the office but also allows me to better assist residents by answering questions about property values, exemptions, and many other assessment-related concerns.

With your vote I will be dedicated to my position as the Sweetwater Assessor. My goal is to ——. I want to support and help this community using my knowledge and experience and help the community better understand how our taxing systems work.

Our employees are dedicated and knowledgeable and are here to assist you in any way they can. You can contact us every Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm at the Sweetwater Court House with the exceptions of Holidays.  I, the current Chief Appraiser and our other county employees do public outreach currently. I intend to continue the public outreach to our seniors, veterans, and taxpayers for any/all exemptions statutorily available in the new role of Assessor.  I have enjoyed working with all the people that I have met in my job and the public and intend on continuing that work as Assessor of Sweetwater County.
